About Us
The Fort Screven Preservation Organization, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to Protecting the Unique History of Fort Screven on Tybee Island, Ga.

The Objectives of the Fort Screven Preservation Organization are:
To Acquire, Preserve and Restore historically significant structures on Tybee Island, Georgia, concentrating on Fort Screven Gun Batteries, fortifications, and related structures that were constructed prior to 1920, with the final disposition of the properties to be granted to a governmental entity such as the National Park Service or the City of Tybee Island or another non-profit corporation such as the Tybee Island Historical Society, so that these properties will be continually preserved and maintained for historical interpretation in perpetuity.
Action Plan:
To publicize the purpose and objectives to interested foundations, trusts, governments, or other grantor organizations that would be able to provide the necessary capital to accomplish the objectives.
Company history
The Fort Screven Preservation Organization, Inc. was created in 2007 to respond to developers who wanted to destroy the Historical gun batteries to build townhouses and Condos.
Once we got started, we discovered that there was some concern from the National Park Service that if the City of Tybee allowed any of the Fort Screven Gun Batteries to be destroyed, Fort Screven could lose its National Historic District Designation.  Please review this letter from Kristen McMasters.
Future Projects
If this Organization is successful in its stated objectives, it intends to acquire, preserve, and restore other historically significant properties on Tybee Island before rampant development can destroy what is still left of Tybee Island's unique history and heritage.
